First Annual BV Memorial 5K + 1 Race | Jacksonville, Arkansas

There is no way I can tell this story and do it justice, just no way.

I am actually fighting back tears of joy as I am trying to write this blog.

The last weekend in April, Brandi and I, along with 6 other family members boarded a plane for Arkansas.  Our destination was not a family reunion, but a road race.  The first Annual BV Memorial 5K + 1 road race.  This race that benefitted the Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas was in memory of my cousin.  It was just such an emotional day for us all.

I’ll let you read the story for yourself at www.bvmemorial.com - because again, I could never do it justice.

You may be asking yourself what is a 5K + 1.  It’s not an extra K, but an extra mile.  They asked all the racers to go the extra mile for the Ronald McDonald house, and because Brian would have wanted something a little different, they wanted to make the race a little different too.  The course was a total of 4.1 miles = 5K + 1.

I will say that the pride I had in my family this weekend was just amazing.  It was so great to be a part of something that took them over a year to plan and was for such a great cause.

If you couldn’t tell Ronald McDonald showed up to help kick the race off.

This has to be one of my favorite moments of the day – Ronald and my Aunt & Uncle leading the 150 racers to the finish line.  Not going to lie, I choked back some tears so I could focus on the task at hand.  I totally pictured the Rocky Soundtrack in my mind as I saw this image!

…and they are off!

Another moment of pride… We had 4 Moore’s win a trophy in the race.  (No it wasn’t fixed!!!!)

I am so proud of my family.

First Look: Maternity | Amy, Todd & Emma | Sullivan, Maine

As Ryan mentioned in a prior post, one of our favorite parts of our business is when we get a referral but I would go one step further and say we love sharing in everyone’s big life moments and we get to do just that with Amy and Todd. Amy and Todd are getting ready to welcome MissEmma into the world and we are so honored that they have invited us to be part of Miss Emma’s welcome wagon. Amy and Todd – thank you so very much for braving the cold with us, we hope you enjoy your sneak peek! We can’t wait to meet the new little miss!

The cutting of the cake…

They still opted for a small cake as a topper for their cupcake tree.  It actually worked out quite well.

Jon had the knife last…  Seems like a good enough place as any to put it!

Wedding | Jon & Lindsey | Orono, Maine | Part I

We always love it when brides refer other brides to us.  Actually, it’s one of the best feelings in the world when brides refer other brides.  There is nothing more flattering to an artist then to have their worked talked about.  This is what happened with Jon & Lindsey.

Lindsey (this Lindsey) was the maid of honor in another Lindsey’s wedding.  What’s that you say?  Yes, two Lindseys.  So last October, which happened to be our last wedding of 2012, we photographed Brian & Lindsey’s wedding.  It’s so awesome that this April, our first wedding of 2013, we photographed Jon & Lindsey.  So the two Lindseys are best friends and were maid/matron’s of honor in each other’s wedding.  How cool (and confusing) is that?  There might be a Lindsey quiz at the end of the blog!

Since the wedding was in April, and we live in Maine, no one knew if you would need mud boots or snow shovels for the wedding!  Thankfully we needed neither, it was a beautiful early Maine Spring day, but COLD!  Since we are all Mainers we forged on!

Lindsey’s dress was beautiful and it was complimented by a custom hanger (hint, hint, it’s a great investment for ANY bride!).

Once we got everyone dressed, we headed over to the church, which was just a short drive away over the river and in the town of Bradley.  This was such a beautiful church!  We love the opportunity to see the inside of so many churches during our busy summer!

When we are at the church, one of my favorite sequences that I get to capture is the groom before he sees the bride, then the bride coming down the aisle and then the groom RIGHT after he sees his bride.  Those moments are priceless.  Check out this sequence…

So there were so many funny moments with this ceremony.  It’s so amazing to see couples who are not afraid to share some humor in their ceremony.  We have worked with this officiant many many times and he does such a wonderful job with everything he does.  Deacon Dan took answers to questions he asked both Jon & Lindsey and wove them together into a great story with many funny and loving moments.

Life with Murphy | The Beach

It’s time for what I hope is everyone’s favorite installment – Life with Murphy!

What a better way to spend a Monday evening then to take your kid to the beach for a little walk!  Normally we take him for just a walk around the block in our neighborhood, but this time Brandi had the great idea to take the little Murphster to the beach for the first time.

I would say it was love at first sniff!

Since Murphy does not need…. MUCH exercise he loved running the short distance down the beach, chasing the tennis ball, and then ignoring the tennis ball when something better comes along.

That’s our Murphy!

Ok, so I have to admit – the iPhone Instagram photos were not my best work, but we didn’t think to bring the good cameras until we were almost there:-D
